Fibromyalgia

Female, Age 47, Fibromyalgia, Migraines, Fatigue

"I had chronic pain throughout my entire body for 17 years from Fibromyalgia. I noticed that the symptoms began to appear shortly after hitting my head from a bad fall. After visiting numerous doctors including chiropractors with no success and taking many different medications, the problem only continued to get worse until I started Upper Cervical Specific care.
Thank you Dr. Marc"

During her initial exam, she describes the pain as burning and aching in the neck, shoulders, arms, fingers, legs, knees, ankles and feet 75-100% of every day. She has headaches all day every day with occasional feelings of dizziness. An injury was found in the upper part of the neck, as well as nervous system dysfunction using computed infrared thermography. After the first month of care she reported feeling more energy and able to get up out of bed without any difficulty. After 6 months of care she reported being able to go out any day of the week at any time.

Testimonial - Female, Age 48, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue
I had my second adjustment last night. The adjustment makes a difference - a real one, I am sure of this. In the past few years with the fibro at full bore, I have this backache every morning when I wake up. It takes over my lower back and is really bad - like someone has used my lower back as a punching bag while I slept. The worst part is that I wake up with this backache that really hurts before I move a muscle. When I move to roll over on to my side I cry out in pain and have to grab the heavy table next to my bed to help myself roll over. Add to this the fact that I don't feel at all rested and you have one lousy start of the day.

Monday - usual horrible backache morning, Monday evening - get adjustment. Tuesday morning - no backache and rested. Wednesday morning - no backache and no adjustment at night. Thursday morning - no backache and rested. Friday morning - the backache is back and I feel crappy and hunched over all day. It comes as no surprise that I need an adjustment Friday evening.

I got the adjustment last night and went home and watched a little t.v.. Then I got up and had all this energy so I organized my closet and finally went to bed at 2 am. Saturday morning - no morning backache, woke up feeling rested!

This is compelling. I know what this means though. Next week - exercise.

What is Fibromyalgia?

Most researchers agree that Fibromyalgia is caused by a disorder of the central processing in the brain stem that does not properly control the regulation of neuroendocrine/neurotransmitter regulation. This causes Fibromyalgia patients to experience amplified pain due to abnormal sensory processing in the central nervous system.

The leading medical institutions theorize that Fibromyalgia may be due to one of the following:
  • Chemical changes in the brain
  • Sleep Disturbances
  • Injury – in the upper spinal region
  • Abnormalities of the autonomic (sympathetic) nervous system
  • Changes in muscle metabolism

  • All five of the causative factors theorized by the leading medical institutions imply a nervous system dysfunction in the Fibromyalgia patient. Furthermore, we can begin to understand the location of the nervous system dysfunction through recent research which has indicated that Fibromyalgia syndrome was found to be 13 times more frequent following a neck injury than any other injury!

Why is Specific Chiropractic so Important?

The purpose of this unique program is to restore nervous system function back to normal by restoring the proper biomechanics of the upper part of the neck. This reduces irritation of the nerves in the brain stem and spinal cord that can trigger pain, neuro-muscular dysfunction and chronic fatigue.
